Presenters: Brian A. Hall (Traverse Legal, PLC) and Kirk Larson (Upland Software, Inc.)

Brian A. Hall is a member of the national law firm of Traverse Legal, PLC and the managing partner of its Austin, Texas office, doing business as Hall Law. He has represented tech startups, enterprise Internet companies and technology companies throughout the world with their Intellectual Property, Internet and Technology Law issues. Brian regularly advises clients on the acquisition of, enforcement of, and monetization of intellectual property, and he has extensive experience with countless transactions involving an entity’s business-critical IP. Brian has served as outside general counsel, including in-house in a secondment role, for Austin, Texas based WPEngine, Inc. from 2014-2015. His firm regularly provides outsourced technology counsel to companies at all stages.

Kirk Larson is General Counsel for Upland Software (Nasdaq: UPLD), which is based in Austin, Texas and has 10 offices around North America and UK. He has previously held in-house counsel positions with private-equity backed CMS company WP Engine and SaaS company Bazaarvoice (Nasdaq: BV). Kirk’s experience includes handling matters in the commercial, corporate and data privacy areas, with particular experience in M&A and equity funding. A large part of Kirk’s practice involves identifying the legal needs of of a company and aligning internal and external legal resources with the business goals in order to get the best value out of the company’s investment in legal resources.
